Swansea is the second largest city in Wales. the City and County of Swansea has a population of 241,300 which makes it the second most populous local authority area in Wales.
Because of this populism Swansea Council has one of the UK’s busiest parking landscapes and offered a challenge that Scheidt & Bachmann relish. The requirement was to introduce 8 entry lane systems, 10 exit lane systems and 24 pay stations across six initial car parks.
Scheidt & Bachmann were chosen out of multiple bidders due to not only delivering the latest in technology, digital portals and applications, but also a proven track record of delivery projects of this scale to a set project plan working alongside other council stakeholders and departments.
After appointment a number of onsite meetings took place to coordinate the installation. Working with Swansea Council to provide a seamless transition whilst keeping the car parks functional. In early 2020 the system went live.
Scheidt & Bachmann has the experience and knowledge to design and deliver key, bespoke and measurable parking solutions for challenging and demanding environments. Swansea Council will continue to grow at a rapid pace over the coming years and during this time they will have the peace of mind that as they evolve their parking philosophy so do Scheidt & Bachmann’s solution offerings making their parking dynamic future fit in a partnership based on transparency, technical know how and trust.
We were very happy with the preparation, management, and delivery of the project to install our new car park equipment. The S&B team dealt well with a number of unexpected delays during the install to still deliver the equipment on time and go live on the expected date. The Project Manager and on site team worked very closely with us throughout the delivery to ensure the installation was as smooth as possible.
These state-of-the-art machines are much-needed and will be welcome replacements for the old payment equipment that has reached the end of its useful life.
Going ticketless makes sense because it will speed-up entry to the car parks, reduce the hassle of having to look after a ticket and makes leaving a little bit easier as well. All people have to do is drive into the car park, park-up, pay for their parking on the way back to their car and drive out. Those drivers who forget to pay at one of the main machines will have the option of paying by card or contactless at the exit barrier.
