The Spanish rider made his Dakar debut in 2019, finishing 65th in the standings in his first year. On the Dakar 2021, he finished 55th, his best finish in the overall category. Last year, in the veterans' category, he finished a superb 14th place, feeling more comfortable due to the increased sand on the course. In 2023, after having carried out a more complete training plan, the Melilla native wants to repeat in the Top-15 of the veterans' class.
In the words of Rachid: "On the Dakar 2023 I hope to finish, and to do so in the top 15 of the veteran class, a new category that is another ambition for amateur riders to tackle this race. I will continue to do the Dakar as long as my body and resources last. Last year I felt very good and this year I'm going for it again". Sergio González, Managing Director of Scheidt & Bachmann Ibérica, said: "Scheidt & Bachmann wanted to sponsor Rachid, a Spanish amateur rider, who has more difficulty in obtaining resources than the big stars, and to support him so that he can finish his fifth Dakar in an unbeatable position. Let's hope that with the support of Scheidt & Bachmann, Rachid will start the year excellently and finish the Dakar as high as possible!
