Scheidt & Bachmann Upgrade Thousands of TVMs across UK and Ireland Transport Networks to TNS’ Payment Processing Platform

|   Fare-Collection-Systems

Scheidt & Bachmann Fare Collection Systems partners with TNS to provide payment gateway services for over 3,800 ticket vending machines (TVMs), which handle over 90 million transactions per year, serving the UK and Ireland’s transport networks.

The agreement, which went live in August, saw hundreds of TVMs migrated each day across a six-week period, with millions of transactions having already been successfully processed through TNS’ cloud-native payment platform, which supports both digital wallets and also VISA, Mastercard and Amex card payments at the TVM.

The TVMs are mission-critical infrastructure for the UK and Ireland’s transport network, providing ticketing services for most of the largest operators including Govia Thameslink Railway, Great Western Railway, Transport for Wales, Nexus, Transport for Greater Manchester, Scotrail and both operators in Ireland.

“We always strive to help our customers to provide an excellent passenger service, starting from the first touchpoint with a seamless and secure ticket purchase,” said Ken Cameron, Managing Director Fare Collection Systems at Scheidt & Bachmann UK. “And we’re pleased to have partnered with TNS for our UK and Ireland payment processing needs. We chose TNS based on its reputation for security, its operational performance, and the visibility and insight into our transaction data enabled by their processing platform - it was a natural strategic fit for us.”

“TNS has been a trusted, global partner of Scheidt & Bachmann for many years, working closely with the parking division of the business,” said Matthew Thomas, Managing Director of UK and Ireland, TNS Payments Market. “Providing this vital payment’s infrastructure, which is so important to the transport network in the UK and Ireland, plays to TNS’ strengths and heritage of enabling mission-critical infrastructure. We look forward to working with the Scheidt & Bachmann Fare Collection Systems team on a long-term basis.”
