Celebrating Our Strong Partnership with the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA)

|   Fare-Collection-Systems

At Scheidt & Bachmann, we believe in the power of strong partnerships to drive progress, and our relationship with the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) is a shining example of this. Together, we’re not just upgrading fare collection systems but also building the future of mobility in Chicago.

Our partnership with the CTA has been instrumental in modernizing the city’s transit network. The FareGo FB|30 fareboxes, now being installed on over 1,800 buses, are key to improving operational efficiency and enhancing the rider experience. The CTA operates one of the USA’s largest public transportation systems, providing 81% of the public transit trips in the six-county Chicago metropolitan area. With over 765,000 rides on an average weekday, the CTA’s over 1,800 buses make nearly 16,000 trips daily across 127 routes, serving over 10,600 bus stops. This extensive network is a vital lifeline for millions of passengers.

This collaboration isn’t new—it’s built on trust and shared goals. During a successful three-month pilot earlier this year, our fareboxes proved their durability, reliability, and ability to improve fare transactions. Now, with the full rollout underway, we look forward to completing the installation across CTA’s entire bus fleet by the end of the year, with ongoing support for the next five years.

The grand opening of our new Chicago office on August 7th marked a new chapter in this partnership. The event celebrated not only our expanded presence but also our commitment to staying close to our partners and delivering innovative, responsive solutions. We were honored to host CTA representatives at the celebration, where we showcased the exciting work being done on the farebox project and the dedication of our Chicago-based team.

This new office is more than just a space—it’s a testament to our long-term commitment to service and innovation, ensuring that we continue to meet CTA’s needs and exceed expectations. As we move forward together, we’re excited about what the future holds for public transit in Chicago.
