Cashless ticket vending machines from Scheidt & Bachmann expand the network of public transport sales stations in Erfurt

|   Fare-Collection-Systems

Erfurter Verkehrsbetriebe AG (EVAG) is strengthening its ticketing network by introducing exclusively cashless sales on a fleet of new Scheidt & Bachmann ticket vending machines. The new cashless machines will also help to reduce cost-intensive damage caused by vandalism and the overall cost of cash handling.

The first new ticket machine was installed at the Roter Berg stop at the beginning of September. Passengers can now conveniently purchase their tickets at the new FareGo ST|22 ticket machines from Scheidt & Bachmann using their Girocard, credit card, Google Pay or Apple Pay. The machines have large touchscreen displays that can be used in German and English. With a total of 15 different ticket options, including single tickets, day tickets and the VMT Hopper ticket, they are well equipped to meet the needs of passengers.

The introduction of these new ticket machines expands the network of public sales points in Erfurt. In addition to the existing 52 machines and the new cashless devices, passengers have access to 22 EVAG agencies, seven concierge services and the EVAG Mobility Centre on the Anger. This ensures that all passengers can purchase a ticket quickly and easily, with or without cash.

This decisive measure works to solve the ongoing challenges of both break-ins and vandalism, which have come at considerable costs in recent years. The upgrades also help answer the increasing need for cashless payment methods. Every second EVAG passenger already pays cashless by card, mobile phone or smartphone.

The decision to switch to cashless payment comes at exactly the right time in view of the increasing demands on passenger safety and convenience. EVAG is setting an example for the future of local public transport in Erfurt.

"We are delighted to be establishing our innovative contactless solution on the market for the first time with our long-standing partner EVAG, thus providing customers with quick and easy access to the system and reducing costs for the company. Another small building block in the mobility revolution." - Mike Ax, Head of DACHI Markets at Scheidt & Bachmann Fare Collection Systems GmbH
